A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… (actually Western New York) there was a skinny blonde girl who started competitive swimming when she was nine years old.
During her ten year career, she set more than a dozen swimming records, qualified for state swimming meets, and spent at least 20 hours a week practicing at the pool. Freshman year of college, after placing second at the NCAA division III state swim meet in backstroke by 0.02 of a second, she hung up her goggles and focused her energy on cracking the books.
That girl was me. Kathy Piech.
Twenty years later, after getting back into eating healthy, exercising and participating in online challenge groups, I wondered whether I could still pass the lifeguarding test. And I did! (The ARC test is much easier than it was 20 years ago! I remember having to retrieve heavy people from the bottom of the pool with no assistance, swimming them to the side of the pool on my hip with no assistance, and blowing up your clothes into something that could serve as an inflatable!)
During that class, I was offered the opportunity to teach swimming lessons at Coney Island. In addition to teaching there, I am also offering 1:1 lessons as well at my pool or at your home. Please contact me for more details and pricing!
